There are two types of portable ironing boards, those with long collapsible legs and models with small legs designed to be used on a countertop or table.

The over-the-door ironing board is secured at the top of the door and drops down for ironing. When you're done it folds up for easy storage. If space is at a premium in your laundry room, this model is a great space saver.

If space allows for a full-size ironing board, your best option is to choose the widest model available. It's also beneficial to keep a small tabletop model handy. They are useful for quick ironing tasks but keep in mind they are not the best ironing board for bedding or bigger projects.
